Mexico City.-
Federal deputy Giselle Arellano, a member of the Morena parliamentary group, strongly condemned the act of discrimination committed by an Argentine citizen against a Mexican officer during a public security intervention, an incident that was widely circulated on social media.
«Mexico has historically been a hospitable country to people of all nationalities. But this openness cannot be confused with permissiveness towards behaviors that violate our legality and the respect for our public servants,» stated the legislator.

Arellano described the incident as «inadmissible» and stated that it not only offends the assaulted individual but also Mexican institutions and the principles of respect and legality that should prevail in public life.
The deputy announced that she will present a bill to reform the Federal Penal Code to increase penalties for physical or verbal assaults against public officials while on duty, especially when they include discriminatory, xenophobic, or hateful expressions.

Her proposal aims to establish clear mechanisms to identify and punish these acts, and ensure greater legal protection for public servants in key areas such as security, health, immigration, and citizen services.
Arellano also issued a call for action to all.
